A Simple Roller-Mill Grinding Procedure for Plant and Soil Samples
نویسندگان
چکیده
Obtaining finely ground, homogeneous plant and soil samples for chemical analysis without cross contamination is a major concern when using direct combustion procedures for determination of total nitrogen (N), total carbon (C), and isotope-ratio analysis. A rollermilling device, using square glass bottles instead of round grinding bottles, was evaluated. Rotation of the square bottles on the roller mechanism increased the milling action by the stainless steel rods inside the bottles. The roller-milling device with square grinding bottles resulted in a sample with smaller particles (99.2%<100 mesh) than with a ball-milling device (83%<100 mesh). The roller-mill *Correspondence: S. Application of perfect mixing model for simulation of vertical roller mills
Vertical roller mills (VRMs) are well-established grinding equipment for various tasks in the coal and cement industry. There are few studies on simulation of VRMs. In this research work, application of perfect mixing model for simulation of a VRM in a cement grinding plant was investigated. Two sampling surveys were carried out on the VRM circuit. The samples and data from the first survey wer...
متن کاملEffect of Reducing Mean Particle Size of Corn DDGS Using a Roller Mill or a Hammermill on Apparent Total Tract Digestibility of DM, GE, Nitrogen and NDF in Growing and Finishing Pigs
and Implications The aim of this study was to test if further grinding of corn DDGS is advantageous in terms of apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of DM, GE, nitrogen (N), and NDF in growing and finishing pigs. It was also tested to determine if ATTD was different between hammermill and roller mill grinding methods. There were 3 diets. Each diet consisted of 51% corn ground at 500 micron...
متن کاملSelection of Comminution Circuits for Improved Efficiency
This paper examines the design of comminution circuits and the issues that impact on comminution circuit efficiency. Circuit efficiency is discussed, principally from the perspective of power efficiency. However, operating efficiency, maintenance efficiency, capital expenditure and return on investment are often the key efficiency factors in project development outweighing power efficiency cons...

Simulation of grinding circuits has being performed from 30 years ago and is also to be more complete and powerful approach with improvement of mathematical models which simulate various processing units/machines. The modeling and simulation of various mineral processing circuits are presently performed. In order to simulate the present grinding circuits of Esfordi Phosphate processing plant, a...
متن کاملCxv. a Wet-crushing Mill for Micro-organisms
FOR some years we have been engaged on the problem of extracting enzymes from micro-organisms. It is well known that most bacteria and yeasts carry out oxidations and metabolic processes at a rate incomparably higher than that of animal tissues. The peculiar virtue of micro-organisms as the source of enzymes is therefore self-evident. A certain amount of success has been attained in extracting ...
